Double Take

Back when Molly was 4 months old, I took this photo of her and it has been one of my favorites! When Wes was 4 months old, I made an attempt to try to create the same picture with him.

There was one problem with my plan. It turns out Wessie was too big for the box so he was very unhappy and uncooperative! Here is the one shot I got of him before he totally lost it. Geez...what a chunk compared to Molly!

The good news is Sister Baby fits just great and really wanted her picture taken with her big sister Molly. What a deal. Look how much Molly has changed in 3 years!

Hiking in GNP

The majority of Glacier Park was closed while we were in Montana, but Matt & I did make the hike to Avalanche Lake one rainy day. An avalanche had come through earlier in the year & we checked out the damage along the trail.

We even saw a fairly fresh bear track and bear scat right on the trail just before you get to the lake-yikes!

I think she' s wondering "wait, where is everyone going?" or maybe she is just deep in thought. Anyways, I love this photo of our little Molly!

Cardinals

We've had a ton of birds around here lately. The Cardinals & Blue Jays are just so pretty and they come and sit right under the tree outside the living room windows. Molly likes to stand at the windowsill and pound on the window at the birds. Here are a couple of pictures I got the other day-they aren't very afraid of people:

Springtime in Missouri

Spring has definitely sprung in Missouri. For awhile there we went straight from winter to summer...but now we are back to more springlike temperatures and I am very thankful for that.

I worked my butt off planting bulbs last fall when I was first pregnant and it finally paid off!

The trees & lilacs are also blooming:

And of course, it's just not spring without baby calves:

It's even better when the cows & calves get to be turned out to grass for the year. The alfalfa field:

It sounds like spring has finally made it to Montana after one last (hopefully) snow storm, so I hope everyone is enjoying the weather & spending time outside!

Friday!

Today is an absolutely gorgeous day! It feels like it must be almost 70 degrees and it's really sunny. The sun just feels so great after what seemed like such a long winter.

So, it's way too nice of a day to be on the computer so I'm keeping this short!

Oh, and Luke reminded me that yesterday was the anniversary of our engagement--2 years!! He got home from work about 8:00 and had wine and roses! Maybe he IS romantic after all. Love you honey!

Regal Eagle

Here are some eagle pictures we took in Keokuk, Iowa a couple weeks ago. In Keokuk they have a dam across the Mississippi River which keeps the water from freezing on one side. You would not believe how many bald eagles there are that come to Keokuk for the winter so they can fish. I didn't even know there were that many eagles in the country, but apparently there are! We got really close to a couple of them that kept landing in a tree on the bank.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was a gorgeous day in Missouri. It was very cold and we even had a fresh dusting of snow. Here's some pictures I took that morning when we were feeding the cows before our trip to Carrollton:

Since then, all the snow has melted and we are back to a muddy mess. I'm sure glad we had wintry weather for Christmas though--I can't imagine not having a white Christmas!

First Frost

Yesterday morning we had our first frost of the year. It was a very pretty morning and the wind had finally died down. Luke & I went out to check the cows & to make sure all the waterers were open. We started feeding hay this weekend and the cows were pretty happy to see it. Here are some pictures I took that morning.

Kelly Jo has been wearing either an orange or red bandana when she is outside so that no hunters can mistake her for a coyote.

Here are some of our cows (plus one). That's right, we have a stray. We think she belongs to the neighbors, but nobody seems to be claiming her. Maybe she will become ours after all!

Luke tried to catch his two horses. We wanted to move them out of the pasture they are in because they are pretty much out of grass. However, they must not want to leave because this was the second attempt at catching them and Luke still had no luck. They don't know what's good for them!!

Today it is really rainy and muddy here, so the frost looks pretty good compared!
