We Had a Good Friday

Friday morning Luke went turkey hunting for the first time this season. Our boss has a hunting cabin and does guided hunts but since nobody was there currently, he took several of the guys from work out for the morning. Luke had a good morning and got a big turkey! It was 24 1/2 lbs and had a 10" beard & 1" spurs.

We also had a new baby calf that morning which means we are only waiting on one more cow and we will be done calving! And, we also sold Mr. T, our 3 year old Angus bull that we have been advertising.
That evening we went to dinner with Miranda & Evan at Bubba & Doc's in La Belle. We were pretty tired out, but had a fun time.

Week of Birthdays

Today is my Dad's birthday! I hope he is having a wonderful birthday and not working too hard. Sorry that I can't be there Dad! Monday was Matty's birthday. He's 23. I'm guessing he celebrated something like this:

Randy Rogers Band Concert

Being nominated for a CMA and all, we didn't think Randy Rogers was going to be playing at the Blue Note for $8 for much longer. We just had to take the opportunity to see him again even though it was on a Tuesday night. We made plans to be in Columbia that night and fixed our work schedule around it.

It was a great concert. However, I hadn't been feeling too good and had actually lost my voice earlier that day. I started feeling really sick at the concert and had to leave about half way through, which really sucked but I felt like I might pass out from a fever if I stayed.

Easter at Our House

Luke & I hosted Easter for the first time, this year. It was kind of a last minute decision, but Luke's parents came to stay with us Saturday night and then went to church with us on Sunday morning and we had a big lunch on Easter.

The biggest lunch I have ever fixed!

Luke & I on our way to church:

It was a cold and windy day, but we had a nice time and enjoyed Easter.

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone is having a great Easter weekend. A few nights ago Luke & I dyed some Easter eggs and I was shocked to find out that this was Luke's first time dying eggs! He said he had painted some before at his Grandma's but never dyed them.

We are having Luke's parents over for Easter. They will be here this afternoon and then stay until tomorrow afternoon. It will be the first time I've cooked Easter dinner so wish me luck!!

The Exotic Sale

On Wednesday Luke had to make a trip to Columbia for work, so I decided to ride along. On the way down there we passed the sale barn in Macon. There were cars, trucks and trailers parked everywhere for blocks and blocks around the sale barn. Well, it just so happened they were having an "exotic" sale that day. We couldn't just pass it up, so after finally finding somewhere to park we went to check it out.

It was basically like taking a trip to the zoo, only the animals were all for sale. Here's some pictures of some of the exotic animals we saw:

The zebras were really nervous and constantly moving so I didn't get a very good picture. Did you know they make kind of a barking noise? It was very strange and very different from a horse. Here's a giraffe:

Some sort of huge swan:

Those are ostrich heads poking out above the corral:

Camels:
I'm not sure what these were called, but they were some sort of odd ball cattle (I guess) that had little bodies and ENORMOUS horns:

They sort of looked like minature bucking bulls (but with huge horns). Anyhow, it was quite the experience and I could not believe how many people (from all over the place) were there!

Meanwhile, Kelly Jo was a home flippin' channels and chillin'.

Vacation

Lynmarie & I got to go on an awesome vacation last weekend. We went on a 3 day Norweigan Cruise to the Bahamas and had a blast. It was so much fun just to see each other and get to hang out, but to get to go to the beach made it just that much better!

Here is our huge ship. This was taken on Sunday when we were hanging out on Great Stirrup Cay, the private island owned by the cruise line.
The trip was full of gorgeous beaches, water and clear blue skies! This was taken at Great Stirrup Cay. We took a hike to a lighthouse on the other side of the island. The lighthouse was disappointing, but there was a great view! Then we got to thinking that the boat may be leaving soon so we high tailed it back to the other side of the island. Luckily we were just in time to catch a boat back to the cruise ship.
Along the way we passed the Great Stirrup Cay International Airport. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been used in quite a while.

On Saturday we went on a shore excursion where we took a smaller boat to a reef. Along the way we passed the beach houses of Oprah, Nicholas Cage, and several others. Once we got to the reef we went snorkeling with these "sea scooters" which were basically a big fan that you hold on to and it takes you wherever you want to go underwater. It was really nice to have them since the waves were pretty huge. We saw some pretty amazing fish--yellow, blue, tiny & huge! Plus there were lots of coral and sea urchins--it was really neat!

The trip was so much fun. We had a great time on the boat getting pedicures, going to the comedy shows, drinking fruity drinks, going to the theme parties & just hanging out enjoying the wonderful weather! The whole cruising experience was really great and I would recommend it to anyone!
