Big Night Out

Last week Luke was traveling for work all week long. One night he was going to be staying just over an hour away from home, so he invited Molly & I to come stay the night with him. We were needing to get out of the house and thought it sounded fun-so we did. He took us to dinner and then we got to swim in the pool. Molly has not been to a hotel since last July at Matt & Emily's wedding and hadn't been in a big swimming pool since even before that, so it was quite the experience. We were so excited to take her to the pool but it ended up to be a pretty stressful experience. She has no fear & she runs like crazy, so that combined with a pool deeper than her head, was not the best situation. It was tough to keep a hold of her and she was SO wound up!

Running in the pool-thank goodness Daddy was close by.
Modeling her new swimsuit from Old Navy.
The ruffles on the butt are the best part-it goes well with her curls on the back of her head.

She had so much fun that you can imagine what it was like to get her to leave the pool--not fun for anyone! Then when we got to the room, she wanted to run in the hall so bad that she just cried at the door the entire time until we finally got her put to bed. What a deal. It was great to see Luke-we were really missing him-but I'm not sure we'll do it again real soon (and he may not invite us to-ha!).

So Much Help

We mowed the yard for the first time on Monday-without fail the mower broke down and the other one wouldn't start (that's right-we have 2 junky mowers). So as you can see, Luke got to work as a mechanic. Molly was right there "helping" for every second of it. As if one helper was not enough-another joined on in (nothing gets past Kelly). It was back running in a jiffy and the fresh cut grass smelled SO good!

Delicious Bass

We went fishing for the first time this year in the pond on the south end of our property & had a great time. Luke did really well, catching a really nice bass & a catfish too. They were both keepers. I caught a smaller bass that I let go but mostly just enjoyed how much Molly was into it. We taught her how to reel and she had it about figured out in just this one time out. She was really impressed with the fish and although we told her we were fishing-she was so surprised when we pulled a fish out of the pond. She's so curious and really taking everything in!

Touching the fish.
Impressed by Daddy's big catch!

Going for a Ride

I don't even know what to say about this picture-other than it really cracks me up! Finally, Molly got something to ride in the trailer behind her tractor. She has been attempting to get Kelly or one of the kitties in the trailer for so long & it finally happened. All she needed was a little cat food to lure the poor cat in. To her dismay, the kitty jumped out the instant the tractor started moving-too bad for her, but good choice for the kitty.

Seeing Green!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Molly wasn't the most cooperative modeling her new shirt, but this is the shirt I made her to celebrate the holiday:

I got the idea from Pinterest--surprise, surprise. So here is a link to the tutorial if you want to check it out here. Basically, you cut 4 heart shapes out of coordinating green fabrics sew them on the T-shirt in a cloverleaf pattern and then sew a little stem. Once you wash the shirt, the edges of the fabric fray and give it sort of a vintage look.

In other "green" news, I'm not trying to rub it in to everyone back in MT, but we have green grass! The weather has been gorgeous (70-80 degrees) all week and we literally saw the grass green up overnight.

We even have daffodils blooming that smell so wonderful. Only one daffodil was harmed in the "smelling" process.

Hope everyone has a great St. Patrick's Day full of leprechauns, rainbows, lucky charms, pots o'gold & green beer! Cheers!

Tractor Driving

Normally I would oppose, I just don't think it's the safest thing, but Molly had so much fun feeding cows with Dad. It was a fairly warm day & Luke wanted to take her with him, so she got to ride the tractor and pretend to drive. She even cried when they were done feeding and had to get off the tractor. What a little country girl!

Going out to feed the cows!

Tea Party

What's a girl to do when you live out in the country and don't have any brothers or sisters to play with? Have a tea party with your best dog/friend Kelly! The kitchen set from Santa has been a BIG hit and Molly has been baking up a storm & sharing with anyone and everyone!

The 2012 calving season has begun and although we don't have any heifers to calve this year, it is still keeping Molly & I a little busier. We like to go out and check the cows first thing in the morning (while the ground is still frozen) and also feed the horses. We had one cow calve on a cold morning and she claimed the wrong calf, leaving her's shivering by it's lonesome. It took a couple days in the barn but Luke finally got them paired up & the cow is now very fond of her calf.

#8020, after she decided she liked her own calf instead of another.

Molly has grown very fond of feeding Cody (Luke's horse) and saying "Hi" to him. She is quite the little helper. She also enjoys chasing the cats-so she's pretty busy while I'm doing chores-ha!

Painting!

Molly & I had so much fun finger painting the other day. I had found a recipe on Pinterest for homemade finger paints a few days earlier & we decided to try it out. The good thing-they're all edible ingredients so when she decides to eat the paint, it's not life or death! She painted several pictures and had so much fun smearing around the colors and even painting her belly blue. Afterwards, she went straight to the bathtub and there wasn't much of a mess at all.

Here is the recipe if anyone wants to try it out:

3 T Sugar
1/2 t Salt
1/2 Cup Corn Starch
2 Cups Water

Heat in a saucepan until thickens to desired texture. Let cool & add colors!
